Oil on Canvas board
40cm x 30cm
December 1996
(The photo is blurred, couldn't get a better picture with the digital camera)
With no purpose but to finish a school project in mind, I created
this piece from a beautiful photograph from a mountainside. The
original picture had a rainbow, but I decided to turn the focal point
towards the trees, giving the painting an asymmetrical balance. It
turned out reasonably well, but I was disappointed with the element
of horizontal motion. The valley appears thin and blocked in. The
foreground rocks could have had more variety in their vertical
height.
